Katherine Jacobs

Katherine Helen Jacobs is an enrolled member of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians, the daughter of Brad and Alicia Jacobs, and the older sister to Harvey Jacobs. Katherine is a member of the Wolf Clan. She was born in Sylva, North Carolina and raised in the Paint Town Community in Cherokee North Carolina.

Katherine’s artistic talent comes naturally, her great-grandmother Helen Driver Jacobs was a talented Cherokee basket maker and potter and her maternal grandmother Vicki Mitchell and mother are both talented artists who enjoy painting.

Katherine is a graduate of Smoky Mountain High School, where she continued utilizing her artistic talents as a member of the National Art Honors Society, creating pieces that landed her first-place and second-place ribbons at the Cherokee Indian Fair two years in a row.

What she loves about painting the most is the freedom to express herself while learning how to create with different mediums. She is passionate about art which has led her to use her artistic talents in the field of applying cosmetics. She started her own business, as a makeup artist with her minor’s trust fund, called Katherine’s Cosmetics.

Katherine is currently studying finance at Arizona State University attending the W.P. Carey School of Business on a Dean’s Scholarship. She plans to use this degree to further her own business and career as a makeup artist. She is a member of the American Indian Science Engineering Society chapter at Arizona State University and has partnered with other Native students to start a makeup/fashion club on campus. Whether painting on canvas or clients Katherine’s award winning talents are something to be admired.
